How to Make Homemade Wrapping Paper with Kids
63
Sometimes trying to get everyone ready & out the door for a weekend event, can be a bit of a chore.
In addition, children are usually extra excited about attending a party and often have a hard time entertaining themselves because they are anxious to get going.
Involving your children can keep them busy, while you get ready!
I have found that asking my kids to create some handmade wrapping paper can help them get involved in the pre-party preparation and keep them occupied long enough for me to take care of other household needs, as well as, make sure we get out the door on time.
Supplies for this kids craft are inexpensive!
Supplies Needed:
- Roll of Paper
Next time your at your out running errands, pick up a roll of drawing paper. These can be purchased at your local craft store (A.C. Moore, Michael's), department store (Target, Walmart), and even random places like IKEA and Ocean State Job Lot. If you can't find any where you live, you can also shop online. - Markers, crayons, colored pencils, you can even use stamps & paints, if you want to get fancy!
- Tape, for wrapping the gift
Your gift will be well-received before it is even opened!
Whether or not your child participated in the gift selection process, having them create the wrapping paper is sure to get a big smile from the gift recipient.
Children always feel very happy when their artwork is recognized and this will give them an opportunity to showcase their artistic talents.
Handmade wrapping paper is earth-friendly!
If your gift receiver is careful enough unwrapping, the paper can be reused or treasured as a work of art. If not, at least it can be recycled, which is a bonus because many towns will not accept store-purchased wrapping paper in their recycling programs.
